Cervinia – in the heart of the Alps
Known by the locals as Breuil, this small alpine town rappresents the entrance to the widest ski area in Europe. Here the ski season usually last six months and more: from November to April in the slopes and July / August in the Plateau Rosa glacier.
Cervinia ski area is connected with Cime Bianche and with Zermatt, all together more than 300 kilometers of outstanding ski runs, not to mention the hors-piste.
In the town itself, everything is at walking distance: the skilifts, the gondola that will bring you up to the mountians, the hotels and restaurants where you will find a wide choice of opportunities to enjoy extreme comfort, local gastronomy and wellness.
Summer time in Cervinia is just as enjoyable as the ski season: hiking, mountain biking, mountain huts and the Mount Cervin (4478m) reflecting in the famous blue lake.
Valtournenche – the alpine village
Conceived by the locals as the best place in world, this small corner of the Valtournenche valley has been the cradle of several Mont Cervin’s guides generations, you will see the famous Piazza delle guide with the commemoration of the many illustrious children, Jean Antoine Carrel and Abbe Aime Gorret first among them.
But not all is history here, the place is actually an excellent choice to stay for a mountain vacation, whether you decide to ski in Winter, hike or climb in summer or find quiet and silence for a relaxing stay in the middle season. From here you can start pleasant short hikes or multi-day treks, climb via ferrata or summits such as Beca de Aran, La Roissette, Le Grand Tournalin, among other.
Wandering in and around the village you will find fine examples of mountain architecture of the 1700 and older, as well as modern houses and chalets built on the old way.
