Via Ferrata Gorbeillon – An Exciting Vertical Adventure in Valtournenche

🌄

The Via Ferrata Gorbeillon is a short yet thrilling alpine route rising above the hamlet of Crépin in Valtournenche. It offers a perfect mix of aerial passages, solid rock, scenic forest sections, and a few athletic moves, making it an ideal half‑day adventure for active travelers seeking a concentrated dose of adrenaline. The approach is quick—about 15–20 minutes through a larch forest—before the rock wall suddenly appears, revealing the start of the route.

The ferrata begins with an easy traverse that warms you up before the terrain steepens. You’ll climb slabs, small walls, and a dihedral, using well‑placed metal steps and natural holds. One of the highlights is a short but suspended Tibetan bridge, preceded by a powerful 2‑meter move that requires either good climbing technique or strong arms. After crossing, the route continues up enjoyable rock to reach the top of the spur, where the views open beautifully over the Valtournenche valley.

The descent follows a forested path equipped with cables in steeper sections, especially useful in wet conditions. The entire outing is compact, varied, and highly rewarding.
